Project Overview

image.png

The Canterbury Townhomes Resurfacing Project, part of the 2025 MFT Pavement Management Program, focuses on restoring deteriorated roadway conditions, enhancing pedestrian access, and improving stormwater and underground utilities. This project also includes supplemental surface and path patching throughout the Village at various locations.

Key components include:

  1. Roadway Resurfacing and Rehabilitation:

    • Mill and Overlay of approximately 1.3 miles of local streets to improve surface quality and extend pavement life.

    • Pavement patching to repair structurally compromised areas prior to overlay installation.

  2. Pedestrian and ADA Improvements:

    • Sidewalk crossings will be upgraded to meet ADA compliance standards.

    • Sidewalk and driveway apron repairs will be completed where necessary to ensure accessibility and safety.

    • Curb and gutter removal and replacement as needed throughout the subdivision.

  3. Utility and Drainage Enhancements:

    • Underground utility repairs are planned to support improved street drainage and prevent long-term issues.

    • Storm sewer work will include structural replacements and rehabilitation where pre-construction assessments identify deficiencies.

  4. Additional Scope:

    • Multi-use path patching in select areas to improve shared-use access for pedestrians and cyclists.

    • Surface patching on other Village streets as part of a bundled cost-efficient contract.

FAQ

Q1: Why is this project necessary?

The subdivision is experiencing pavement and infrastructure deterioration. This project will rehabilitate the streets to improve long-term performance, drainage, and pedestrian access throughout the neighborhood.

Q2: What roadway improvements are included?

The project includes the milling and overlay of approximately 1.3 miles of local streets to restore ride quality and surface condition.

Q3: What sidewalk and curb improvements are included?

Curb and gutter, sidewalk, and driveway aprons will be removed and replaced where necessary to address damage and improve accessibility.

Q4: At any time will my water service be disrupted for the underground utility repairs?

The Contractor and Resident Engineer will try to avoid any disruption to your water service. However, in some cases, a water shut down is required. If this is the case for your home, the Contractor or Resident Engineer will contact you 24-48 hours in advance and will again notify you right before the shut down occurs. Disruptions to water services should be limited to between 4 and 6 hours.

Q5: Will I have access to my driveway during construction?

Driveway access may be temporarily limited during apron and curb work. Advance notice will be given to affected residents, and access will be restored as soon as conditions allow.
